This module helps students in Marine Sciences to develop a broad set of fundamental skills that will help them both throughout their study as well as when preparing for their future careers. Through a combination of tutorials and workshops/seminars, students will learn how to write scientific essays, how to design posters, and how to give oral presentations. Students will also develop their ability to conduct research into topics of interest, and in a manner which aligns with the University’s academic integrity policy. Students will also have an opportunity to meet their cohort in a field trip to coastal North Wales, and begin to develop plans for their future career during sessions with the Careers and Employability Service.
